Rolled our brains around pretty good getting out of the Piankatank proper into the Bay. There we had a main only broad reach in 30-35kt winds down to the mouth of the James where things started to moderate. We motored into the Elizabeth River with security boats zipping to and fro making sure we stayed clear of the NAVY; a towboat running over to our side of the channel when he did get too close to the USN; a towboat sitting across the channel where he had dragged buoy #13 a 1/4 mile out of position. Lafayette River Channel offered a calm avenue to a quiet night in the middle of old Norfolk. Two cruisers were there with us, but rain kept socializing to zero.
