While at the boat show we did talk with representatives of the Florida Open Water Society which is dedicated to ensuring the continuous access by Florida citizens and visitors to the diverse waterways of the State of Florida. Their mission is to protect and maintain citizen and visitor rights to responsible anchoring, mooring and various recreational water sports. They endeavor to work with the State and local governments to promote proper legislation that will maintain citizen and visitor rights and privileges to these activities. We’ve spent a bit of time familiarizing ourselves with the issues and it is a sad commentary on American local politics. The Salty Southeast Cruisers Network is another group addressing these issues more broadly.
