In the course of commenting on another blog, The Marine Installer’s Rant, I recalled a serendipitous technique I use to reduce bloodstains in the bilge.
Many of you have encountered the fangs of clipped cable ties I’m sure. Some years ago while working on Bright Star, I ended up infected and scarred from one too many cable tie slashes and gashes in a bilge that was a ’50s science fiction movie monster breeding pit (we had just taken delivery of the sixteen year old boat).
In the weeks following, I stumbled on using toe-nail clippers to finish trim the ties. The arc cut end or ratchet case itself may leave one abraded, but I have yet to experience a laceration from one so trimmed.
