Picturing Maintenance

As I posted some time back, I use WordPress blogging software on my laptop server to track boat maintenance. The Tag Cloud snapshot above captures five years of non-scheduled maintenance events on our 40 footer we started sailing in June 2005.

Electrical is biased because of the work required to repair secondary damage when the temp sensor on the charger failed.

Entec (our genset) is biased by the complete cooling system failure which required reconfiguration of the genset and work to unstick a valve (twice).

Yanmar would be (0) had it not been for a cascading fracas caused by incorrect alternator belt size. [Wrong belt restocked in correct sleeve.]

With these adjustments it works out to 20 maintenance actions a season (~3/mo).

I don’t even want to think about what these numbers looked like for the Freedom 40.
