It would be hard to have missed accounts the weather events of the past few days. But it might have been hard to understand the implications of some of the radio weather alerts. Since the weather Wednesday moved from land toward the sea, the earliest reports and later specific warnings were given in terms of counties well before they were provided for marine areas, in other than generic form.
When cruising along shore we recommend you have a hard copy source of county names bordering the waters you are upon. It will make assessing your risks easier. I have gone so far as to mark the coastlines on our charts with the county name The following site affords all the detail we feel necessary:
