Wardrobe Malaprop

klaxonBahamasIt’s parliamentary elections time in the Bahamas (7 May). Visitors need to be aware that the color of your shirt may be making a strong political statement without your knowledge. Green, Red, and Yellow shirts (alphabetical, folks) are statements of support for the DNA, FNM, and PLP respectively.

These are not the puerile, reductionist distinctions of Red and Blue used by the American Media in US politics. Neither should they be mistaken for the color/agenda connections in Europe or Asia, et al. These are distinctly Bahamian.

Unless you want to find yourself in a (heated) dialog you may not be prepared for — or a welcome party to, look for any other color to wear until  well past the election. If that means giving that Heineken T-shirt some drawer time, so be it.
