Nits & Grits of Day One

  • Up at 0600 — cold and calm out.
  • Away at 0649 — beam wind in the slip — 12 kts
  • Sunrise, clear sky– 15-20 kts G 25 in the Bay
  • Near dead downwind.
  • Ebb plus wind driven surface set pushed us up to 8kts till Noon
  • Two t-shirts, pile vest and pile jacket — still had to put side curtains down
  • Wind went kerflooey between Patuxent and Potomac Rivers
  • Motored into Great Wicomico and anchored in light breeze under clear sky
  • Bombing or naval gunfire in the distance
  • Tomorrow 30kts in the p.m. will have us starting early — anchoring early
  • Four foot tall Blue Heron tried to land on orange dinghy bow — all three of us surprised
